Google Sheets as Your Own Data Source in the Agency Dashboard
Some numbers don't exist in any ad API, such as offline revenue or calls from the call center. At many agencies they live in a Google Sheet. With the Sheets integration you bring exactly those numbers into the client's dashboard, as a trend over time.
The connection runs via OAuth with read-only access. Then you pick the spreadsheet and tab and define which column holds the date and which columns hold the values. Spreadsheets in shared drives are included in the search.
Google Sheets is included in every MetricDash plan, and data sources per client account are unlimited: you pay per client, never per connection. Currently free to use in full during the open alpha.
What the Google Sheets integration does
Map columns instead of building formulas
You pick a date column and one or more value columns and give each value column its own label. A preview of the first five rows shows you before connecting whether the mapping is right.
Trend over time
Each value column appears as its own line in the chart, filtered to the period you select in the dashboard. Below it, a table lists the rows from exactly that period.
German and international formats
Dates in ISO format or as DD.MM.YYYY are recognized, and so are numbers with a comma or a point as the decimal separator. MetricDash ignores currency symbols and spaces. Rows without a valid date or without a number are skipped, and the view tells you how many there were.
Shared drives included
MetricDash finds spreadsheets in your own drive and in shared drives, which is where agencies usually keep their client files. If nothing shows up anyway, the picker explains the most common cause right away: the Google account you connected with.
Your own numbers in the client portal
Your clients see the values from the sheet in the client portal with their own login, without access to the spreadsheet itself. Sheets data doesn't flow into the automatic report emails and report links yet.
How the connection works
- 1Connect via OAuthSign in with the Google account that owns the spreadsheet or that it's shared with. MetricDash only gets read access to your spreadsheets and the file list, no write permissions.
- 2Pick the spreadsheet and tabChoose the spreadsheet from the list, then the tab that holds the numbers. The tab needs a header row with column names.
- 3Map the columnsSet the date column and pick the value columns that should appear in the chart. You can adjust their labels along the way.
- 4Use the dashboard and client portalThe values appear in the client's "Data sources" section, as a chart and as a table. Through the client portal, your client sees the same numbers with their own login.

FAQ
Can MetricDash change my spreadsheets?
No. MetricDash only has read access to your spreadsheets and the file list in Google Drive. No cells are written and no files are changed. You can revoke access at any time from your Google account.
Which date and number formats are recognized?
For dates, ISO (YYYY-MM-DD) and the German format DD.MM.YYYY. For numbers, both a comma and a point work as the decimal separator, and currency symbols and spaces are filtered out. Rows that can't be read are skipped, and MetricDash shows how many.
My spreadsheet doesn't show up in the list. Why?
Shared drives are included in the search. If the spreadsheet is still missing, check that you picked the Google account that owns it or that it's shared with when connecting. Google shows you the account chooser every time you connect.
How many spreadsheets can I connect per client?
Per client account you currently connect one tab from one spreadsheet, with as many value columns as you like. Other clients each get their own sheet at no extra cost, because MetricDash bills per client and never per data source.
Are the Sheets numbers included in the automatic reports?
Not at the moment. The automatic reports and shareable report links cover Google Ads, Meta Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Search Console, website traffic, and leads. Your client sees the values from the sheet live in the client portal.
